Bill Belichick has been illegally taping opponents' defensive signals since he became the New England Patriots' coach in 2000, according to Sen. Arlen Specter, who said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told him that during a meeting Wednesday.

I don't know what is going to come of this, but it's pretty clear that Belichick and the Patriots' legacy is going to be forever tainted, and anyone who doesn't think so is a serious homer. I don't buy Belichick's "misinterpretation" excuse for a second. If that was true, he would have stopped when people complained about this YEARS AGO.

Then there's the NFL's reaction to it all, which reeks of cover-up. Goodell acted way too quickly in destroying the evidence, and HIS reason for doing so seems hollow as well.

Despite all this, I will be really surprised if anything concrete happens though. People who are calling for Belichick to be banned for life or for the Pats' championships to be taken away are going to be disappointed--it would upset way too many people.

I'm just happy that they lost the Super Bowl and are forever scarred by 18-1.
